Our Story

New Leaf is a boutique flower shop located in Jamaica Plain’s diverse and lively center. We take special pride in being citizens of our unique neighborhood while also providing high quality floral design and personalized service to our clients throughout the greater Boston Metropolitan area.

At the heart of New Leaf flores exists the belief that our lives are greatly enriched by the bounty and diversity of nature and also the joy of individual artistic expression. We locate ourselves at the intersection of nature and art and strive to create eclectic and innovative designs that use the botanical world’s endless palette of colors and textures, shapes and scents to inspire us.

We hand select our materials daily and collaborate with our clients to fashion unique creations that delight and surprise. From a single stem to large scale events, we consider color, texture composition occasion and the season in our shared journey toward shaping something unexpected and memorable.

DANIEL LOPEZ-OSPINA

Co-Owner & Lead  Designer

I was born and raised in Medellin Colombia, “The City of Eternal Spring.” I grew up surrounded by lush greenery and flowers year round. At age 20, I moved to the United States and brought with me love for my country and for my home city.

Years later, after successful careers in customer service and social work, I discovered my passion and talent for all things related to flowers and floral design. I was hired at Winston Flowers as a part time helper one day before Valentine’s Day and immediately fell in love with the industry. Since then, I have been fascinated, intrigued and inspired by the infinite variety and beauty of nature; I have always attributed this to my upbringing.

Now as the co-owner of New Leaf flores, I am excited to share my range of talents and skills with my local community and the wider world. I enjoy working with each client to share my enthusiasm and knowledge and through my work and personal interactions strive every day to be a more creative designer and a better person.

JEB TAYLOR

Co-Owner & Business Manager

I am originally from a large family in rural western Massachusetts, the fifth of seven children and son of an avid gardener. In the Spring, Summer and Autumn our mother pressed us into service as free labor for her extensive vegetable and ornamental garden. This early introduction to plants, flowers and the rhythm of the seasons instilled in me an appreciation for nature, gardening and farming.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish language and literature from UMass Amherst and studied fine art at the Museum School.

In my career I have been the area manager for Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma retail stores, a middle school Spanish teacher in Newton and now the co-owner and Director of Operations for New Leaf Flores.

I share Daniel’s passion for nature in all its forms, but my area of expertise is the day-to-day management of our small but unique floral boutique. I always say, “Daniel is in charge of making things beautiful and I am in charge of making sure it gets there on time.” Daniel and I work together, striving to make every customer experience memorable and every interaction an opportunity to share our knowledge and develop appreciation for our craft.
